NFDI4Health supports four Citizen Science projects distinguished by intensive engagement with interested citizens. Now, all project participants came together in a closing workshop on 9 April 2024 in Oldenburg to discuss the results and next steps. In the scientific session in the morning, ORIENTATE, MIKA, and Making Sense of my own Health Data presented their projects on topics such as patient organizations as co-founders for data registries, desires and barriers in participating in health research, and health gadgets. Impressive results were revealed: Besides a guide on barrier-free participation, two podcasts for patients were also created. The researchers emphasized that the projects strengthened their competencies in research participation and overall spoke of successful collaboration with citizens and patient organizations. In the afternoon, the public part took place at the Schlaues Haus Oldenburg. Under the guiding question "Health Research: How can my data help?" the importance of the citizen perspective in health research and the possibilities of our new NFDI4Health ResearchDialogue Portal were in focus.
