TA4 - Consolidation and Extension of Standards Software and Services
In Task Area 4, the development of technical solutions for the FAIRification of health data is anchored. The performance and user-friendliness of the FAIR Services are enhanced through stronger connections between the tools and new features. One focus of this work area is the further development of the Health Study Hub. Here, additional NFDI4Health and Base4NFDI services are integrated, and quality and maturity are increased. In close collaboration with the Network of University Medicine (NUM) and the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), the German Research Data Portal for Health (FDPG) is being expanded. This enables not only healthcare data but also clinical, epidemiological, and public health data to be centrally requested. The NFDI4Health metadata schema is continuously developed, ensuring it remains internationally and transdisciplinarily compatible. This also requires the establishment of routines for data harmonisation and data quality assessment, including the use of AI-based approaches for image quality evaluation. With DataSHIELD, a sustainable infrastructure for distributed data analysis is additionally being created, allowing health data to be decentralised and securely analysed. The solutions developed by NFDI4Health also provide important groundwork for the European Health Data Space and can serve as a template in central areas. New tools are released as open-source on widely-used platforms to enable further development by user communities.
