NFDI4Health Statement on Collaboration with Industry

NFDI4Health: A Partner for the Responsible Use of Health Data
Our focus lies on clinical, epidemiological, and public health data, which we aim to make usable in line with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable). These types of data are highly sensitive and, at the same time, of great societal importance.

Our goal: Enabling the responsible use of health data
At the intersection of data protection, societal benefit, and scientific progress, we are working together with partners from science, policy, civil society, and industry to shape new pathways for knowledge transfer. In doing so, we align with the requirements of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and adhere to the highest standards of data protection.

Cooperation with responsibility – including industry partners
Against the backdrop of growing public-private partnerships – as emphasised in the 2025 coalition agreement – we stand for responsible, transparent, and science-based collaboration among all relevant stakeholders, including industry. Our ambition is to build trust and foster sustainable partnerships.

Our role
As a knowledgeable and engaged discussion partner, we actively contribute our expertise to dialogues with industry associations and others. Together, we aim to develop viable models that allow health data to be used responsibly while driving new momentum for research and innovation.

Our vision
In the years ahead, we aim to establish reliable structures that both regulate access to health data and unlock their potential for innovation in research and healthcare – all in line with ethical and legal standards. We will cooperate with industry as appropriate to reach this aim.
