The digital transformation and the increasing amount of research data in the health sector are challenging our society. Data Train is a series of lectures that equips researchers from different disciplines with competencies in research data management and data science. In this way, Data Train meets the increasing demand of data literacy training and lays the foundation for informed decisions in a world of big data.

The U Bremen Research Alliance, NFDI4Health and further NFDI consortia, developed the successful Data Train concept in 2021. Since 2023, Data Train is part of Data Nord, the interdisciplinary data competence centre for the Bremen region. On 17 January 2024 the Starter Track program for beginners officially started and was opened in an impressive Kick-off event and Get-together at the Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen. Iris Pigeot, co-spokesperson of the NFDI4Health consortium, welcomed all participations in her festive introductory speech. The Data Train Starter Track runs from January to May 2024 and offers interesting lectures like “Statistical thinking”, “What does ChatGPT actually know?” or “About the meaningfulness of data”.
