Sessions and Workshops
From 7th to 10th September 2025, NFDI4Health participated in the GMDS Annual Conference in Jena. There, NFDI4Health presented its work on building FAIR health data infrastructures. Florian Schwarz gave a talk on "Privacy-preserving Federated Analysis," presenting innovative approaches that enable decentralised analysis of health data while ensuring privacy. Carina Vorisek explained her poster presentation on the NFDI4Health metadata schema and the FHIR standard, as well as their transferability into the European Health Data Space. Johannes Darms clearly demonstrated how linking clinical trials and publications through reference matching can optimise bibliographic metadata. In a workshop led by Matthias Löbe and Martin Golebiewski, concepts for machine-readable representation of data access and usage restrictions in accordance with the FAIR principles were presented.
Five Years of NFDI4Health: An Interim Summary
Five years after the launch of NFDI4Health, the GMDS Annual Conference provided the perfect opportunity for a closing symposium, led by speakers Juliane Fluck and Iris Pigeot. The previous work was presented to the professional community, and progress in the standardisation and FAIRification of health data was explained. The focus was on technical developments, as well as the challenges and potential of networking and interoperability of health data. The symposium concluded with a preview of the second funding phase of NFDI4Health, which begins on 1st October 2025.
Exchange and Networking at the NFDI4Health Stand
In addition to the expert talks and workshops, GMDS 2025 also offered numerous opportunities for direct exchange. The NFDI4Health information stand at the Volkshaus was a key point of contact for many participants. Here, those interested had the chance to learn about the structure and specific offerings of NFDI4Health.
