In the Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung webinar series by NFDI4Health & BIH QUEST, leading research institutes present their valuable datasets from various fields of health sciences.

Webinar Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung: Research Data Portal for Health (FDPG)

In this fifth edition of the Meet-the-Data@ Gesundheitsforschung series on 12th February 2025, Dr. Marie Gebhardt from the TMF Coordination Office will present the German Research Data Portal for Health (FDPG):

The FDPG serves as a central portal for researchers conducting studies with routine data from German university hospitals. The initiative is part of the Medical Informatics Initiative (MII), which is funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and enables the use of patient data and biosamples from routine care for medical research purposes, in compliance with data protection regulations.

The FDPG provides an overview of available datasets for multi-site research and allows researchers to evaluate the feasibility of specific research questions through feasibility queries. In addition, the platform supports a standardised process for requesting data and biosamples and offers uniform contractual terms that ensure the easy use of data. The central coordination of data provision ensures a smooth and efficient process, while the transparent display of research projects in the project register promotes open access and collaboration.

Looking ahead, the established processes of the FDPG will be expanded to new data sources, making data available for secondary use centrally and in line with uniform processes for researchers. A key starting point for this is integration with NFDI4Health. In the future, for example, data from large epidemiological cohorts will be accessible through the FDPG.
